Gray Matters

Thanks for peaking in on my blog.  Let me give you a little glimpse of me.  You’ll know me better as time goes on.  I am approaching 50 – so hard to believe.  I’m healthier than ever.   No issues really (some of my friends and family could probably debate that!).    I eat super healthy, exercise, have fun….all that.  Life is pretty good.

Here’s the thing though.  I’m really getting sick of coloring the gray out of my hair.  I’ve been doing it since my 30’s and I’m OVER it!

So today I made a decision.  I’m going to let it go gray.  I think it will be fabulously beautiful.   Both my Mom and Grandmomi had gorgeous  gray hair.  I’m hoping that’s a good sign!

Here’s the other thing though.  The reaction I get when I tell people I’m going to my natural color.   One friend today told me – WHY???  Your hair looks beautiful the way it is.   And I thanked him.  But then I went on to tell him that I’m tired of putting all those nasty chemicals on my head every 6 weeks.  I’m in the Health Coaching business and I need to walk the talk!  Right?  I also wouldn’t mind saving some of that cash I spend on my head!    (Love my hairdresser though!  I’ve been with her since 1994!  I’m not sure if she is onboard yet.  I’m seeing her tomorrow so I will keep you posted!)

My girlfriends really don’t think it’s a good idea.  They say I’m too young to be gray.   One friend even said – “you are so beautiful!  Why would you want to age yourself  like that?”    Huh?  I’ve got some things to say about that too.  But I’ll leave that for another day.

Another friend who is also letting her hair go gray – says that people treat her differently – and not in a good way.

And my best friend, of course, is supporting me all the way.  It’s all about attitude and how one carries oneself.

So my plan is to keep a blog going on my hair with pictures, comments and any ideas anyone has along the way.   My aunt thinks this will be like “watching paint dry” ,  but I am also going to keep you posted on  eating for beauty, exercise tips and some juicy tidbits to get your glow back on!

And if YOU are thinkin’ about going on this natural journey, please send me you thoughts and ideas.  Life is about having fun, right?  Let’s go play!

Just keepin’ it REAL!

Last hair color:  Aug 6, 2010.  (That’s my side kick behind me!)
